Future Of Iran
Tortured political prisoners in Iran in need of immediate help!

We the undersigned endorse this petition supporting human rights for and condemning the physical or mental torture of political prisoners in all the prisons in Iran.

In April 2007, as an activist spokesperson passionately fighting for the rights of 19 political prisoners, I publicly criticized lack of effort of international committees on his behalf on Fox TV.

Later in Summer of 2007, I came to know a few people from UN and Amnesty who explained their work in simple terms most people would like to hear it.

Most people, including me, agree the UN and Amnesty International don't do much because we seldome see the positive results from our petitions.Unfortunately the Amensty and UN do not have the power to enforce the international laws to which Iran is signatory but chooses to ignore. UN officials in Geneva assure me that they are well aware of the mental and physical torture political prisoners are enduring daily and that Mr. Olson, the UN rapporteur, has make repeated appeals but there is not much that either of the international agencies can do to save Ayatollah Boroujerdi or anyone else in Iran.

UN and Amnesty International officers point out the sad-but-true reality that their hands are tied. They can only remind but cannot force the Iranian regime to abide by their international contract prohibiting torture of dissidents. Amnesty has not been able to visit Iran since 1979 and UN visitations have been denied since 2003.

I asked UN officers what can be done to save this and other voices who will loose their lives in the next few months.  They answer that the only way seems to be the media and politicians who can sway Iran by denying resources it needs.

Please sign this petition knowing you can sign under a suiter name, and also use your first name only.  Please sing it and also forward this page to your politicians, to your friends in high power and let them know that at least 2 men in Iran are about to loose their lives.

This petition will only be sent to UN & Amnesty International and your e mail addresses will never become public.

I urge you to help.  Please forward it to your friends and family, and to your connections in high places and ask them to help. Ask your congressman and women, ask your politicians for help.  Because without them, UN and Amnesty can only write actions to remind of the Iranian regime what should they do, but never be able to enforce them of any action.  We need to work together to bring Iranian regime down. We can't do it if we work seperatly.

Tortured political prisoners in Iran in need of immediate help!

A political prisoner is someone held in prison, or otherwise detained, because their ideas or actions are deemed by the government to be a challenge or threat to the authority of the state.

Today there are approximately 3500 political prisoners in Iran being unfairly detained, subjected to torture and held for years without any prospect of release. Some have even been held in prison for years without being told the reason for their arrest. Ali Reza Khair Abaday, Saiid Massouri and Khaled Hardani - to name a few- have spent years in jail without being told a date for their release or execution.

In Iran, many of these political prisoners are too poor to hire a lawyer or are unaware of their right to obtain a state-appointed lawyer free of charge. Lawyers are often hesitant to take the cases of political prisoners in fear of also being arrested for appearing "anti-revolutionary".

According to Article 168 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, political cases must appear before a jury in a Revolutionary court. While the jury should have the power to make a final decision, in reality the judge ends up having absolute power.
A distinction of Judges duties is mandated under the Iranian Criminal Code and Law:
however, in reality, there is blatant pluralism practiced by the Judges. This poses a serious conflict of interest for a positive outcome for a political prisoner.

Political prisoners are subject to the most brutal forms of torture including ashing, amputations, eye-gouging, clubbing, executions etc... Often these are done to extract information or even false confessions from the accused.

Prisoners held in solitary confinement are not allowed visitation rights; however, when released from solitary confinement they are allowed a 15 minute visitation every two weeks.

Here is one testimony from a political prisoner:

Hossein T., an Iranian university student and activist, writes:

Twice, they took me to the courtyard in Evin where the executions are carried out. They tied my feet. They took off my blindfold. One man was saying: "Tell me why you lied. Tell me what you did." They hung me from my feet, and they put a bag over my head. For what I think was 30 minutes, they were kicking me and itting me. They hit my chin, and the skin broke. Blood began to fill the bag that was tied over my head. Blood began to drip on the floor, and this is when they stopped.

The second time they took me in there, they hung me from my hands. They used a baton to beat my torso. They broke my hand, and I fell unconscious. When I regained consciousness, they said, "If you say you lied, we will stop." I could not speak. It is not because I am brave that I did not confess, it is because I ouldn't talk.

Please sign this petition below in solidarity with the political prisoners in Iran so that we may be their voices to the outside world. Through our actions we hope that international governing bodies- like the United Nations- can take action and put a final end to human rights violations in Iran.

I pray, plead and sign for STOPPING all torture and killing of political prisoners in Iran; but I also plead for a stop to all unfair imprisonments in the first place... Activists who non-violently speak out, publicly convene, protest, march, etc., should not be bothered in any way, arrrested, captured or imprisoned. Peaceful Revolution is a Human Right--especially when the revolution is for defending Human Rights! Godbless the Iranian People and the past-to-present vast Persian culture!

Regarding the treatment of middle eastern women. In the United States we called this slavery, in South Africa it was called apartheid. Nations and countries were applauded by the poor treatment of the black people. The only difference between is that it happened to both men and women. Why is this type of treatment of women of any color acceptable behavior to the world? Why aren't more countries, nations and the UN demanding that abusing countries treat their women with equally.

The authors interview on O'Reilly this evening is how I was introduced to this subject. She was very well spoken and had excellent insight. I will recommend and definetly buy the book. It did not surprise me at all to hear that Iran has political prisoners in confinement. Iran is only seemingly not ACTUALLY a fully democratic "FREE" society. Which is kind of like China except a lot less peaceful and Chinas' leader hasn't threatened Genocide. I'd like to help anybody, anywhere, anytime I'm able which is why I'm taking time to sign this petition. -DS

Thank you what ever you are doing for our people and country. Getting the signed petition to American Authorities and publicizing in Media. This is one of the best and efficient in way of approaching to American as a nation as well other countries. I did hear you few different times when you were talking to MANOOCH or last night with Mr. Mohry. I admire you as a dedicated responsible young IRANIAN who is trying her best to inform world of what is going on with her people. I believe next step is announcing a well prepared DEMONSTRATION in WASHINGTON, DC. If you need my help I'll be there any time. By having well organized, well planed DEMONSTRATION could make more influence on PUBLIC opinion; Government also will force media to bring up IRANIAN problem to public more often. During these 27 years there was not much (very limited) about IRAN and our people, except sometimes some special coverage mostly for ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of IRAN. We should prepare a strong, well planed huge DEMONSTRATION that will help us to take our message trough out the world not just USA. Thank you

Ghazal Omid
